I’ll admit, I’m a self-help junkie.
I will read self-help books before I will allow myself the pleasure of reading fiction. I used to feel like I was lazy or wasting time if I read fiction. I truly did not think this of others who would gift themselves the time of pure enjoyment for enjoyments sake. I was even a little jealous that they could be so free with their time. I simply had created a standard for myself that was hard to break. It was my pornography. I can’t get through a day without some form of self-help lit. Heaven help me! Hey, I never said I was perfect!
So true is the latest book I’ve read by Debbie Ford called The Right Questions-Ten Essential Questions to Guide You to an Extraordinary Life.
Many of you may be familiar with Debbie’s work. My first introduction with her was through the Institute of Integrative Nutrition. She gave an amazing talk that was so full of honest, core reaching, in-your-face goodness that I wish I could gift all of you with her wisdom daily. That is why I’m suggesting you run out and get this book. I’m not an affiliate and I get nothing if you purchase it so at least check it out. My promise to you is that you may never need my coaching if you consistently ask yourself and follow through with the ten questions she outlines in her book.
For example, one question to ask yourself when at the crossroads of choices:
“Will this choice propel me toward an inspiring future or will it keep me stuck in the past?”- Debbie Ford
Now ask yourself that question next time your deciding its better to watch The Amazing Race instead of planning that experience you’d love to have. What is stopping you?
What about when your choosing to eat that delicious chocolate chip cookie, but your upset you haven’t met your nutrition goals for the week:
” Will this choice bring me long-term fulfillment or will it bring me short-term gratification?”- Debbie Ford
There are eight more juicy questions in this book you can not afford to not ask yourself if you’re looking to change your life from one of automatic living to one of living a beautiful, enriched, inspiring life on purpose with a purpose!
My coach call to action for you this week: Buy, borrow but don’t steal the book and write the ten questions down on a 3×5 card and carry them with you. Refer to these questions as often as you need to throughout the day to start living the life of your dreams. Warning: it may become addicting, at which point you may need my services to learn to trust your intuition!
But until then, go ahead and put me out of work!
